Jawasa Panchang, botanically identified as Alhagi Maurorum, is commonly known as Jawasa, Camel Thorn, or Jawasa Panchang in traditional Ayurvedic literature. The term Panchang denotes the use of the entire plant, including roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, carefully harvested, shade-dried, and processed according to classical practices.
According to classical Ayurvedic texts, Jawasa possesses Madhura (sweet) and Tikta (bitter) rasa, with Sheeta (cooling) virya, making it suitable for balancing Pitta and Kapha doshas. It is traditionally referenced in formulations associated with respiratory comfort, internal cooling, cleansing preparations, and wellness-supportive blends, always under practitioner guidance.
Jawasa Panchang is commonly incorporated into Kwath, Churna (after grinding), and compound Ayurvedic formulations, often combined with complementary herbs. Ayurvedic literature emphasizes proper identification, gentle processing, measured dosage, and expert supervision for safe and effective traditional use.
