Tag : Gambhari Bark
Gambhari Bark, botanically identified as Gmelina Arborea, is widely known as Gambhar Chal, Kashmari Bark, Gamar, and White Teak Bark. It is one of the ten roots and barks of the classical Dashmool group described in Ayurvedic texts. The stem bark (Twak) is the primary part used, carefully collected, dried, and utilized in traditional herbal preparations.
According to Ayurveda, Gambhari bark possesses Madhura–Tikta rasa, Sheeta virya, and Guru–Snigdha guna, making it effective for balancing Vata and Pitta doshas. It is traditionally valued for supporting joint comfort, muscle strength, digestive balance, respiratory wellness, and post-illness recovery.
Gambhari Bark is extensively used in Dashmool Kwath, Churna, Arishta, and classical rejuvenating formulations. Ayurvedic practice recommends its use under guidance, often prepared as a decoction (Kwath) by boiling the bark with water until reduced, or blended with other Dashmool ingredients for synergistic benefits.
